The Four Origin Bifold & French Door Systems
OB-36+, the flagship, in Soho, Gallery or Georgian style
Origin's slimmest external door: a 36 mm sash and just 84 mm of frame between panes at the hinge. Configure it as a bifold of up to 14 panels and 15,000 mm, or as a French, single or fixed door, opening in or out. Triple glazing takes it to 0.78 W/m²K, and it is tested to PAS 24:2022. The Soho style adds a traditional lock block and integral glazing divides for a steel-framed look, with Gallery and Georgian styles also available.
OF-36+, the slim French and single door
The same 36 mm profile and 84 mm hinge sightline as the OB-36+, built as French, single and fixed doors of up to six panels. The same 0.78 W/m²K best U-value and PAS 24:2022 security. The right choice where you want the OB-36+ look on a hinged door rather than a fold.
OB-49, the established bifold
A 49 mm sash with 110 mm glass-to-glass at the hinge, square or chamfered beads, and up to 12 doors on one jamb. Sets run to 6,000 mm on a single track and up to 27,600 mm with joining tracks. PAS 24:2022 and Secured by Design on doors under 2,500 mm tall, with strong weather ratings: air Class 4, water 9A.
OB-72, the broader-framed bifold
A broader 72 mm sash and 154 mm hinge sightline for a more substantial frame, with the same sizes and weather ratings as the OB-49. It is also offered in Natural Oak and Golden Oak woodgrain finishes. Like the OB-49, it is tested to PAS 24:2022.

What is the difference between the Origin OB-36+, OF-36+, OB-49 and OB-72?
The number in each name is the sash width: 36, 49 or 72 mm. What you see between two panes at the hinge is wider: 84 mm on the OB-36+ and OF-36+, 110 mm on the OB-49 and 154 mm on the OB-72. The OB-36+ is the slimmest and most thermally efficient (to 0.78 W/m²K) and is tested to PAS 24:2022. The OF-36+ is the same profile as a French, single or fixed door. The OB-49 and OB-72 are also tested to PAS 24:2022, carry Secured by Design under 2,500 mm tall and take up to 12 doors on one jamb.
What are Origin's Soho, Gallery and Georgian styles?
They are design styles for the OB-36+. Soho gives the door a traditional lock block and integral glazing divides, so the slim aluminium frame reads like a steel-framed door. Gallery and Georgian are Origin's two alternative looks, and we show you each one when we quote.
How wide can an Origin bifold door be?
Each panel can be up to 1,200 mm wide. The OB-36+ takes up to 14 panels, to 6,000 mm on one track and up to 15,000 mm with track connectors. The OB-49 and OB-72 take up to 12 doors on one jamb, to 6,000 mm without joining tracks and up to 27,600 mm with them. Panel heights reach 2,846 mm on the OB-36+ and 2,924 mm on the OB-49 and OB-72. What U-value does an Origin bifold achieve?
It depends on the system and the glass. The OB-36+ reaches 1.4 W/m²K with a 28 mm double-glazed unit at a 1.2 centre pane, which meets Part L for replacement doors, 1.2 W/m²K with a 1.1 centre pane, and 0.78 W/m²K with triple glazing. The OB-49 and OB-72 run from 1.5 W/m²K double glazed to 1.1 W/m²K triple glazed. Origin's figures are calculated to BS EN ISO 10077.
Are Origin bifold doors secure?
Yes. The OB-36+ and OF-36+ are tested to PAS 24:2022, and the OB-36+ comes with a 3-Star Diamond cylinder as standard. The OB-49 and OB-72 are also tested to PAS 24:2022 and are Secured by Design on doors under 2,500 mm tall, with up to 8 locking points on taller sashes. Origin's certification applies with a 3-Star cylinder and a P1A laminated glass unit, which we specify whenever you need the certified configuration.
Can I have a low or level threshold with an Origin door?
Yes. The OB-49 and OB-72 offer a 20 mm mobility threshold, and the OB-36+ and OF-36+ offer a 30 mm low threshold on hinged (non-bifolding) doors. Weathered thresholds are also available where the opening is exposed. We advise on the right threshold for your opening when we survey.
How does an Origin bifold compare with a Cortizo bifold?
Both are premium aluminium bifolds. Origin's strengths are the OB-36+'s 36 mm sash, its Soho styling and a guarantee of up to 20 years on parts.
