Slim Ridge, Hips and Rafters
Korniche reduced the width of the ridge, hips and rafters so more of the roof is glass, for wider sky views and more daylight from above.
Slender Top Caps, Sealed Glazing
Slender external top caps finish the tapered ridge and hips, running down to sculpted corners. Custom seals encase every glass unit, so there is no silicone inside the structure; sealant is used only at the base.
Thermal Performance
Thermally broken aluminium frame with 28mm argon-filled double-glazed units and a warm edge spacer: a glass-unit U-value of 1.2 W/m²K, or 1.0 W/m²K with the Premium glass range. Meets and exceeds current Building Regulations Approved Document L. Solar control glass options (blue or neutral) regulate heat gain in summer.
Made to Measure — 6m × 4m Max Span
Manufactured to exact opening dimensions. Sizes up to 6m × 4m external for large extension rooflights. Rectangular, square and custom aspect ratios available. Stock colours plus bespoke RAL and BS colours, with a different colour inside and out if you want one.
Self-Cleaning Glass as Standard
Every Korniche glass type is self-cleaning. A transparent coating uses daylight to break down dirt, and rain washes it away, so the glass stays clearer for longer between cleans.

What we rate
- Fast glazing. The pre-tensioned frame and gasket-sealed glazing go in quickly, so the roof opening spends less time exposed to the weather and the job causes less disruption at home.
- More glass, less frame. Korniche uses a reduced width ridge, hips and rafters, so from the room below the lantern reads as glass and sky.
- Well-specified glass. Every lantern uses 28mm argon-filled double-glazed units with a warm edge spacer. The glass-unit U-value is 1.2 W/m²K with Clear, Neutral or Blue glass, or 1.0 W/m²K with the Premium glass range.
- PAS 24 as standard. Korniche rates the lantern PAS 24 high security as standard, with laminated glass available where a specification calls for it.
- Thermally broken throughout. The lantern is fully thermally broken: a high-strength polymer insulating core runs through the entire structure and the fasteners are thermally isolated, so cold bridging is virtually eliminated.
What to weigh up
- A size ceiling. Bespoke sizes run up to 6m × 4m external. A larger opening needs two lanterns or a different rooflight.
- Double glazing only. The Korniche lantern uses 28mm double-glazed units throughout, so a specification that calls for triple glazing needs a different product.
- Framed by design. The ridge, hips and rafters are slim but visible. For a truly frameless look, a bespoke structural glass rooflight is the route.
- Made to order. Every lantern is manufactured to the opening, so allow for a manufacturing lead time, which we confirm with your quote.

Do Korniche roof lanterns need planning permission?
In most cases no. If the lantern doesn't extend more than 150mm above the existing roof slope, it falls under permitted development. Listed buildings and conservation areas may need approval.
