What Are U-Values?
A U-value measures how effective a material is as an insulator. The lower the U-value, the better the insulation. For windows and doors, U-values typically range from 0.7 W/m²K (Passive House standard) to 2.0 W/m²K (basic double glazing). Building regulations currently require U-values of 1.4 W/m²K or better for new windows.
Choosing the Right Glazing
Modern double glazing typically achieves U-values of 1.1-1.4 W/m²K, while triple glazing can achieve 0.7-1.0 W/m²K. The choice depends on your property, orientation, and budget. We’ll help you find the right balance of performance and value for every window and door in your home.
