Why the Origin OI-30
OI-30, the slimmest sightline in the Contemporary Collection
Origin's Internal Door has a 30 mm sightline — narrower than every other family in the Contemporary Collection. The result is an unobtrusive aluminium frame that defines spaces without creating barriers, letting natural light flow through the home while breaking a large open-plan space into functional zones.
Designed for today's way of living
The OI-30 supports the broken-plan layout most modern UK homes are moving toward: a series of distinct functional spaces (kitchen, dining, lounge, home office) that flow visually rather than being shut behind solid walls. The slim aluminium frame and glass panes create a cohesive, complementary aesthetic across the open span.
Four configurations: Single, French, Fixed, Corner
Per the Contemporary Collection brochure, the OI-30 supports four configuration types: Single (one hinged leaf), French (double-leaf hinged), Fixed (non-opening glass panel that closes a span without an opener) and Corner (a 90-degree internal corner divider). The right configuration is confirmed at the survey stage based on the room layout and the architectural brief.
Premium-grade aluminium, British manufacture
OI-30 uses the same premium-grade aluminium as the rest of the Contemporary Collection, designed and manufactured in-house at Origin's High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire) facility. Same engineering pedigree, same Bicester 10-stage powder-coat finish, same up-to-20-year frame guarantee, same Queen's Awards 2020 manufacturer.
Over 150 RAL colours, dual-colour available
Available in over 150 RAL shades, with textured and dual-colour configurations (different colour inside vs outside of the frame). Powder-coated at Origin's 10-stage Bicester facility. Industry-average pre-treatment is 5-7 stages; Origin runs 10, giving a more flawless and durable finish.

Origin OI-30 Internal Doors in real homes
The OI-30 is most often specified as a kitchen-to-dining or kitchen-to-living room divider in broken-plan layouts, plus utility / laundry rooms where the door needs to feel decorative as well as functional.

Hardware: handles for the OI-30 Internal Door
Origin offers two handle ranges for the Internal Door: Contemporary Handle in Matt Black (the most-specified for industrial broken-plan layouts) and Signature Knurled in six finishes. Both available as standard or all-in-one offset variants.

Signature Knurled — Brushed Black
The most-specified Internal Door handle. Matt black brushed-metal texture pairs with the OI-30's slim industrial aesthetic.

Signature Knurled — Antique Brass
Warm gold tone for transitional interiors, where the OI-30 frame is specified in a warmer RAL colour to match natural wood.

What is the Origin OI-30 Internal Door?
The OI-30 is Origin's aluminium internal door, part of the Contemporary Collection. With a 30 mm sightline — the slimmest in the Collection — it is designed for room dividing and broken-plan layouts, defining functional spaces while still letting natural light flow through the home. Available in Single, French, Fixed and Corner configurations.
What is the difference between an internal door and an external door?
External doors are weather-sealed, security-rated (PAS 24, Secured by Design) and engineered to handle wind load and rain. They form the external envelope of the building. Internal doors live inside the heated space and don't need that same weather and security envelope, which is why the OI-30's 30 mm sightline is achievable where an external door's minimum is 36 mm (OB-36+). The internal door's job is visual and acoustic separation, not weather and security.
What configurations does the OI-30 support?
Four configurations per the Contemporary Collection brochure: Single (one hinged leaf for a normal doorway), French (double-leaf hinged opener for wider openings up to a full wall span), Fixed (non-opening glass panel that closes a span purely visually) and Corner (a 90-degree internal corner divider creating an L-shaped room boundary). Each is confirmed at the survey stage.
Where is the Origin Internal Door typically used?
Common uses: dividing an open-plan kitchen from a dining room or lounge, creating a home-office zone within a larger living space, separating a hallway from an open stairwell, defining a snug or play area without losing the visual flow of the main room. The OI-30 works best where you want spaces to feel distinct but still connected. Anywhere a solid stud wall would feel too heavy, the OI-30 fits.
Can I get the OI-30 in any RAL colour?
Yes, over 150 RAL shades, plus dual-colour configurations where the inside-facing and other-side-facing of the frame are different finishes. The colour is applied to the aluminium substrate through powder-coating at Origin's 10-stage Bicester facility rather than as a surface foil, so it doesn't fade or peel over decades.
How does the OI-30 compare to Crittall-style steel internal doors?
Both achieve the slim industrial-aluminium look. Origin's OI-30 is aluminium (lighter, more thermally efficient, easier to operate, available in 150+ RAL colours) where Crittall-style products are typically steel (heavier, more traditional feel, narrower colour palette, higher conductivity). For most contemporary UK projects the OI-30 is the more practical choice; for heritage industrial conversions Crittall-style steel remains relevant. We install both ranges and can walk through both at the survey stage.
Do you install the OI-30 across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire?
Yes. Vitrum Solutions installs the full Origin Contemporary Collection, including the OI-30 Internal Door, across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire and West London. Including Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Amersham, Marlow, Windsor, Ascot, Virginia Water, Weybridge, Cobham, Esher and all surrounding premium towns. Origin's High Wycombe factory is itself in Buckinghamshire, so logistics on local installs are particularly efficient.
