The 2 Origin Window Systems & Configurations

OW-70 Slimline, 65 mm sightline external flush

Origin's slimline aluminium casement window. 65 mm sightline frame, external flush detail (the sash sits flush with the outer face of the frame), whole-window U-value to 1.2 W/m²K. Maximum single-leaf size approximately 1,400 mm × 950 mm side-hung. Available across all three Origin aesthetic collections: Soho (contemporary), Gallery (transitional) and Georgian (traditional). PAS 24 certified, multi-point shootbolt locking, made in High Wycombe.

OW-80 Premium, 91 mm sightline internal & external flush

Origin's premium aluminium casement window. The only aluminium window in the UK market that runs flush both internally and externally. 91 mm sightline frame, whole-window U-value to 0.8 W/m²K with the Aerogel thermal upgrade. Maximum single-leaf size approximately 1,800 mm × 1,000 mm side-hung. Single fixed-frame panes up to 7 m². The premium choice on contemporary new builds and architect-led renovations where the window detail needs to read as flush glass on both elevations.

Soho, Gallery and Georgian aesthetic collections

Both OW-70 and OW-80 are available across three Origin aesthetic collections. Soho is the contemporary collection: minimal proportions, square edges. Gallery is the transitional collection: softer detailing that suits both modern and period properties. Georgian is the traditional collection: proportional bar layouts and detailing engineered for heritage and conservation contexts. The collection choice does not change the system's thermal or security specification, only the visible profile detailing.

Configurations: side-hung, top-hung, picture, bay, French, gable, bi-fold window

Origin's window range supports side-hung casement, top-hung casement, picture/fixed, bay, French (double-leaf), gable (raked-head) and bi-fold-window (multiple-leaf folding) configurations. The bi-fold window is essentially a multi-leaf casement that folds and stacks like a small bifold door, a useful pattern for serving hatches, kitchen passes and elevations where a wider clear opening is wanted than a single casement can deliver.

Up to 20-year Origin frame guarantee

Origin's commercial signature: a guarantee of up to 20 years on the aluminium frame, with marine environments downgraded to 10 years frame and 5 years on the moving hardware. Sits alongside our own 10-year FENSA-registered, CPA insurance-backed installation guarantee. The combined cover is one of the strongest in the UK premium market.

Origin Windows — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between OW-70 and OW-80?

Both are premium Origin aluminium casement windows, both PAS 24 certified, both made in Origin's High Wycombe factory. OW-70 is the slimline tier: 65 mm sightline, external flush detail (sash sits flush on the outside face only), whole-window Uw to 1.2 W/m²K, max single-leaf around 1,400 mm × 950 mm. OW-80 is the premium tier: 91 mm sightline, internal-and-external flush detail (sash sits flush on both faces), Uw to 0.8 W/m²K with the Aerogel upgrade, max single-leaf around 1,800 mm × 1,000 mm with fixed-frame panes up to 7 m². OW-80 is the only UK aluminium window with flush detail on both faces.

Which Origin window collection should I choose: Soho, Gallery or Georgian?

All three collections are available on both OW-70 and OW-80. Soho is the contemporary collection: minimal proportions and square edges, suited to modernist new builds and contemporary extensions. Gallery is the transitional collection: softer detailing that works on both modern and period properties, the safe middle choice. Georgian is the traditional collection: proportional bar layouts and detailing engineered for heritage and conservation contexts, the right choice on listed buildings and conservation-area frontages. The collection choice doesn't change thermal or security specs, only the visible profile detailing.

What U-value does an Origin window achieve?

OW-70 reaches a whole-window U-value of 1.2 W/m²K with double-glazed Low-E units, comfortably exceeding the Approved Document L 1.4 W/m²K maximum for replacement windows. OW-80 with Aerogel triple-glazing reaches a whole-window U-value to 0.8 W/m²K, Passivhaus-adjacent territory and one of the lowest figures available on a commercial UK aluminium window. Specific Uw is calculated per opening based on the chosen system, glazing unit, frame size and thermal spec at quote stage.

How big can an Origin window be?

Side-hung casement maximum single-leaf size is approximately 1,400 mm × 950 mm on OW-70 and approximately 1,800 mm × 1,000 mm on OW-80. Single fixed-frame panes on OW-80 reach up to 7 m². Bay, French, gable and bi-fold-window configurations are built up from these base leaf sizes. The exact maximum size for your opening, plus the wind-load assessment, is confirmed at the survey stage.

Are Origin windows PAS 24 and Secured by Design?

Yes. All Origin opening profiles are PAS 24 certified with multi-point shootbolt locking. Secured by Design configurations are available where insurance specifications require it: a UK police-approved security spec recognised by Hiscox, Chubb, AIG and other premium home insurers.

Can I get Origin windows in any RAL colour?

Yes, over 150 RAL shades, plus dual-colour configurations where the inside and outside of the frame are different finishes. The colour is applied to the aluminium substrate through powder-coating to BS EN 12206 rather than as a surface foil, so it doesn't fade or peel over decades, a meaningful advantage on south-facing installations versus dark uPVC.

Are Origin windows suitable for conservation areas?

Yes. The Origin Georgian aesthetic collection is engineered for heritage and conservation contexts, with proportional bar layouts and detailing matched to the period look conservation officers expect. The OW-80 internal-and-external flush detail also reads cleanly on listed-building visual approvals because there is no protruding sash on the outer face. We handle the conservation-officer pre-application correspondence at the survey stage.
