The 2 Origin Window Systems & Configurations

OW-70 Slimline, 65 mm sightline external flush

Origin's slimline aluminium casement window. 65 mm sightline frame, external flush detail: the sash sits flush with the outer face of the frame. Configurations: casement, bay, fixed, gable, French and bi-fold window. PAS 24 certified, made in Origin's High Wycombe factory.

OW-80 Premium, 91 mm sightline internal & external flush

Origin's premium aluminium casement window. 91 mm sightline frame with internal-and-external flush detail. The sash sits flush on both faces. Engineered for vast maximum sizes (confirmed per opening at survey stage). The premium choice on contemporary new builds and architect-led renovations where the window detail needs to read as flush glass on both elevations.

Six configuration options across both window systems

Both OW-70 and OW-80 are available across six configuration types: casement (side-hung or top-hung), bay, fixed, gable, French (double-leaf), and bi-fold window (multi-leaf folding sash). The bi-fold window is essentially a multi-leaf casement that folds and stacks, useful for serving hatches and elevations where a wider clear opening is wanted than a single casement can deliver.

Configurations: side-hung, top-hung, picture, bay, French, gable, bi-fold window

Origin's window range supports side-hung casement, top-hung casement, picture/fixed, bay, French (double-leaf), gable (raked-head) and bi-fold-window (multiple-leaf folding) configurations. The bi-fold window is essentially a multi-leaf casement that folds and stacks like a small bifold door, a useful pattern for serving hatches, kitchen passes and elevations where a wider clear opening is wanted than a single casement can deliver.

Origin Windows — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between OW-70 and OW-80?

Both are premium Origin aluminium casement windows from the Contemporary Collection, both PAS 24 certified, both made in Origin's High Wycombe factory. OW-70 is the Slimline tier: 65 mm sightline with external flush detail (sash sits flush on the outside face only). OW-80 is the Premium tier: 91 mm sightline with internal-and-external flush detail (sash sits flush on both faces) and engineered for vast maximum sizes. Specific dimensions and thermal performance are confirmed per opening at the survey stage.

Which Origin window configuration should I choose: casement, bay, fixed, gable, French or bi-fold window?

All six configurations are available on both OW-70 and OW-80. Side-hung casement is the standard residential opener; top-hung casement opens outward from the top edge (good for high-level ventilation). Picture/fixed is a non-opening pane for unbroken views. Bay is a 3, 4 or 5-section angled opening for traditional bay layouts. Gable is the raked-head shape for gable-end walls. French is a double-leaf opener that meets in the middle. Bi-fold window is a multi-leaf folding sash, useful for serving hatches and elevations where a wider clear opening is wanted. We confirm the right configuration at survey stage based on the opening and the architectural brief.

What U-value does an Origin window achieve?

Origin's Contemporary Collection brochure quotes whole-window U-values as low as 0.78 W/m²K across the range, comfortably exceeding the Approved Document L 1.4 W/m²K maximum for replacement windows. Specific Uw is calculated per opening based on the chosen system (OW-70 or OW-80), glazing unit, frame size and thermal spec at quote stage.

How big can an Origin window be?

Origin's Contemporary Collection brochure quotes OW-80 as engineered for 'vast maximum sizes'. Specific dimensions, configurations (casement, bay, fixed, gable, French, bi-fold window) and the wind-load assessment are confirmed at the survey stage based on the opening, the chosen system (OW-70 Slimline or OW-80 Premium) and the project's structural envelope.

Are Origin windows PAS 24 and Secured by Design?

Yes. All Contemporary Collection windows are PAS 24 certified. Some products in the Contemporary Collection achieve police-backed Secured by Design accreditation, a UK security spec recognised by Hiscox, Chubb, AIG and other premium home insurers.

Can I get Origin windows in any RAL colour?

Yes, the full RAL palette. Because both the OW-70 Slimline and OW-80 Premium use a flush-casement detail (the sash sits in the same plane as the outer frame rather than protruding), the chosen colour reads as one continuous surface. Bold dark shades and bronze anodised tones land harder on a flush window than on a traditional casement with stepped sashes. Dual-colour configurations let the interior side match a different scheme to the exterior. Powder-coated at Origin's 10-stage Bicester facility on the aluminium substrate.

Are Origin windows suitable for conservation areas?

The Origin OW-80 Premium's internal-and-external flush casement detail reads cleanly on listed-building visual approvals because there is no protruding sash on the outer face. We handle the conservation-officer pre-application correspondence at the survey stage to confirm what your local planning authority will accept.
