Buying Origin Doors and Windows Through an Approved Partner

Origin doors and windows are made by Origin in aluminium, and its Approved Partners survey, supply and fit them. Choosing the right one matters as much as choosing the right door: the installer measures your openings, specifies the system, places the order and fits the finished product, and the quality of each step shows in the result.
This guide explains how buying Origin works with Vitrum Solutions, an Origin Approved Partner, from first enquiry to the paperwork you keep afterwards.
Who Is Origin?
Origin is a British aluminium door and window company, headquartered in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Its range covers bifold, French and single garden doors, sliding doors, casement and tilt and turn windows, front and garage doors, and steel-look internal doors. Origin holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 accreditation and received The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2020.
What an Approved Partner Does
An approved installer is the link between you and the factory. For an Origin project, we:
- recommend the right Origin system for each opening, from the slim OB-36+ bifold to the OW-80 flush casement window;
- prepare a written quote that sets out the specification;
- survey and measure every opening before anything is ordered;
- order from Origin and manage the delivery;
- install it and register the work with FENSA, which confirms it meets Building Regulations.
Because we also fabricate Cortizo and Schuco in our Uxbridge workshop, we can set out the alternatives side by side when a different system suits an opening better, such as a lift-and-slide door.
Step by Step: How an Origin Project Runs
1. Enquiry. Send us your sizes, photos or drawings through our quote form, or call 0800 861 1450. 2. Quote. We send a written quote with the system, glass, colour and hardware for each opening, and the payment stages. 3. Start Payment and survey. When you accept, the Start Payment confirms the order and we book the survey, where every opening is measured precisely. 4. Ordering. We place the order with Origin to the surveyed sizes. Popular colours carry Origin's shortest lead times; special RAL colours take longer, and we confirm your programme when the order is placed. 5. Installation. We remove the old units where needed and install the new ones. 6. Completion. You receive the FENSA certificate and the guarantee documents.
The Guarantees You Get
An Origin project through us carries two layers of cover:
- Origin's product guarantee: up to 20 years on parts, depending on the product and where it is installed (Origin's terms apply).
- Our installation guarantee: a 10-year CPA insurance-backed guarantee on the installation, which protects you even if the installer were no longer trading.
FENSA registration confirms the installation meets Building Regulations, which your buyer's solicitor will ask for when you sell.
Questions to Ask Any Origin Installer
Whoever you choose, these questions separate a careful installer from a quick one:
- Are you an Origin Approved Partner? And how long have you been installing Origin?
- Who surveys and who fits? Ask who measures the openings and who installs the doors.
- Which PAS 24 edition does the system carry? On Origin's range it varies: the OB-36+, OF-36+, OB-49, OB-72, OS-29+, OW-70, OW-80 and tilt and turn are tested to PAS 24:2022, the OS-29, OS-77 and front doors to PAS 24:2016, and the OS-44 slider is not PAS 24 rated. Origin's certification applies with a P1A laminated glass unit, so check it is on the quote.
- Is the work FENSA registered, with an insurance-backed guarantee?
- What glass is specified? The U-value, the measure of heat loss, depends on the glass unit, so ask what the quote includes.
