Why TOTAL70
5-chamber baseline, 6-chamber Edge upgrade
TOTAL70 ships with 5 thermal chambers as standard — already two more than most budget UK uPVC systems. Where extra performance is wanted at the seal (north-facing elevations, exposed sites, Future Homes Standard-aware refurb), TOTAL70 Edge adds a sixth chamber on the same 70mm depth and the same colour/woodgrain compatibility, so visually it's identical and the upgrade is invisible from outside.
Steel-reinforced frames, internally-beaded glazing
Every opening sash has a galvanised steel reinforcement core through the profile to keep the frame straight over decades of seasonal expansion. Glazing beads sit on the inside of the frame, so the glass cannot be removed from outside — a foundational requirement of PAS 24:2022 and a hard prerequisite for Secured by Design specification.
A+ BFRC, comfortably exceeds Approved Document L
Whole-window U-values of 1.2 W/m²K with a standard double-glazed Low-E unit, dropping to 0.9 W/m²K with triple glazing. The Approved Document L (Building Regs) maximum for replacement windows is 1.4 W/m²K — TOTAL70 clears that comfortably with the standard double-glazed spec, so you have headroom for darker or coloured frames (which sometimes degrade the U-value slightly) without ever falling below regulation.
Full Rehau colour and woodgrain range
Rehau's foiled finish range is the deepest in mainstream UK uPVC — Anthracite Grey, Chartwell Green, Black, White, Cream, plus Turner Oak, Light Oak and a number of other woodgrains. Foils are fused to the profile so they don't peel; warranted against fade on south-facing installations for 10 years, where most budget uPVC will visibly fade within 7-10 years.
PAS 24:2022 + Secured by Design compatible
All TOTAL70 opening profiles are PAS 24:2022 certified with multi-point shootbolt locking, internally-beaded glazing and laminated inner glass options on opening sashes. SBD-compatible configurations available where insurance or new-build specifications require it.

Specified where extra thermal performance matters most without moving up to the cost of a triple-glazed unit.

Can TOTAL70 be specified in conservation areas?
Sometimes — it depends on the local planning authority and whether your property is listed. TOTAL70 is a flush-glazed casement profile rather than the deep-rebated heritage Rio profile, so for conservation properties where flush sash detail or a sash-window appearance is the planning expectation, the Rio (flush casement) or Victorian Sliders (sliding sash on Rehau profile) systems are usually the better fit. Listed buildings normally require timber. We handle the planning consultation and supporting paperwork as part of every quote.
How long does TOTAL70 last?
Rehau warrant the profile for 10 years against fading, warping and structural failure. In practice, Rehau TOTAL70 installations typically reach 25-30 years before replacement is needed — the foiled finish stays colour-stable, the steel-reinforced frames don't sag, and the multi-chamber profile keeps its thermal performance. Budget 3-chamber uPVC tends to need replacement at 15-20 years.
