Why AGILA
Inline track — keeps the floor space
An inline slider runs each pane on a precision track parallel to the wall. Unlike bifold or French sets, no leaf swings into the room or out into the garden — so the inside floor area stays usable for furniture or a dining table right up to the door, and the patio side is unobstructed for outdoor furniture or planting.
Slim sightlines, more glass
AGILA's interlock and frame profile is engineered to keep the visible mullion narrow, so the eye reads the door as a single uninterrupted glass plane more than a frame structure. The result is a brighter, larger-looking room — particularly noticeable on south- and west-facing aspects where you want the light pulled in.
Configurations up to 6 m wide
Available in 2-pane (one fixed, one sliding), 3-pane (two outer fixed, central or off-set sliding) and 4-pane (two-and-two splitting from the centre) layouts. Maximum overall width up to 6 metres, suiting most rear-extension openings and conservatory thresholds without needing structural lintel changes.
A-rated thermal performance, multi-chamber
AGILA uses Rehau's multi-chamber profile philosophy applied to the patio-door form factor. Whole-door A-rated thermal performance, double-glazed Low-E units as standard with warm-edge spacer bars; triple-glazed upgrade available for openings on shaded or exposed elevations.
PAS 24 multi-point locking, toughened safety glass
PAS 24 certified with multi-point locking on the sliding sash, anti-lift devices on the running track, and toughened safety glass throughout (the standard requirement for any glazing within 800mm of finished floor level under Approved Document K). Laminated glass available where Secured by Design or insurance specs require it.

AGILA — Frequently Asked Questions
What is Rehau AGILA?
AGILA is Rehau's inline sliding patio door system in uPVC — a horizontal-sliding multi-pane door where each pane runs in a track parallel to the wall. Unlike a bifold (which folds and stacks) or French doors (which hinge open), an inline slider doesn't take up any floor space inside or outside when open, which is why it's the go-to choice when interior or patio space is constrained.
How wide can AGILA go?
Configurations span 2, 3 or 4 panes with a maximum overall opening of about 6 metres. The 3-pane layout is the most common for typical rear-extension openings (4-5 m wide); the 4-pane layout is used where you want a larger overall opening with an even split. We confirm the right configuration for your opening at the survey stage.
AGILA vs aluminium sliders — which should I choose?
Aluminium sliders (Cortizo Cor-Vision, Schuco ASS 70.HI, Reynaers etc.) give you slimmer sightlines (around 22-35 mm interlock vs AGILA's wider profile), a 25-year frame guarantee and a more premium aesthetic — at roughly 2-3× the price of an equivalent uPVC AGILA door. AGILA is the cost-conscious uPVC option with a similar functional layout for utility, rear-extension and conservatory openings where the budget priority is glass area + slide function rather than the slimmest possible frame. Compare on /aluminium/sliding-doors.
AGILA vs bifold — which is better?
Bifolds open the entire span (panes fold and stack to one side or split-stack) so you get a fully clear opening. AGILA panes can only slide past each other on parallel tracks, so the maximum visual opening is about half the door width on a 2-pane, two-thirds on a 3-pane. Bifolds win for outdoor-living seasons where you want the wall to disappear; AGILA wins for security-and-thermal-when-closed, easier daily use (no folding ritual), and where the floor space is too tight for a stack. Full comparison: /blog/bifold-vs-sliding-vs-french-doors.
How secure is AGILA?
PAS 24:2022 certified with multi-point locking on the sliding sash, anti-lift devices on the running track, and toughened safety glass throughout. Laminated inner glass is available as an upgrade — required for some Secured by Design and insurance specifications. Internally-beaded glazing means the glass cannot be removed from outside without entering the house first.
Is AGILA suitable for conservation areas?
Patio doors are not usually a conservation-area decision point — most conservation councils focus on visible street-facing windows and front doors. AGILA is a rear-of-property product in almost every install, so it's rarely the planning issue. Where the rear of the property is also conservation-sensitive, talk to us at the survey stage; we can flag what your local planning authority typically accepts and work the application accordingly.
Can you fit AGILA in a conservatory or extension?
Yes — that's the most common AGILA application. Rear-extension openings (4-5 m wide) and conservatory thresholds suit the 3-pane layout naturally. We coordinate the fit with whoever's doing the structural work (your builder or our recommended contractor) so the lintel and aperture are sized to the AGILA frame from day one.
