Why Contemporary Palladio
Flush slabs and geometric panels
Contemporary Palladio designs lean into the flush-slab aesthetic — clean uninterrupted door faces with minimal panel detail, often combined with simple geometric reveals or large clear vision panels. The architectural intent is the door reading as part of the elevation rather than a decorative focal point — most appropriate when the front of the home is itself a contemporary build.
Large clear glazing options
Contemporary Palladio configurations often feature large clear glazed centre panels, full glazed sidelights either side and an optional transom panel above — turning the entrance into a light-flooded glass bay. Triple-glazed Low-E units throughout for whole-door U-values of 0.85 W/m²K (solid) / 0.98 W/m²K (glazed). Privacy-grade obscure glass available where line-of-sight matters.
Premium contemporary colour palette
Most-specified contemporary finishes from the 13-colour Palladio collection: Anthracite, Agate Grey, Silver Grey, Black, White and Cream. Foiled finishes are UV-stable and warranted against fade for 12 years. Dark colours don't peel like budget composite doors — the colour is integral to the GRP shell, not a surface foil that can lift.
Brushed stainless and matte black hardware
Contemporary Palladio installations are typically specified with brushed stainless or matte black hardware to match the slab finish — pull handles, lever handles, letter plates and viewers all available in matching architectural finishes. Polished chrome and brass available where the project brief calls for those instead.
PAS 24 + Secured by Design + 12-year warranty
All Palladio doors are PAS 24-compliant with 10-point multi-point locking, 3-star TS007 cylinder, hidden hinges and laminated inner glass on glazed configurations. Secured by Design accreditation included. The 12-year manufacturer warranty on the door slab plus our 10-year CPA insurance-backed guarantee on workmanship cover everything that can fail on a composite entrance door.

What makes a Palladio door 'contemporary'?
Contemporary Palladio designs use flush slabs (no raised panels), minimalist or geometric reveals, large clear glazing options, and a tighter colour palette (Anthracite, Agate Grey, Black, White) — versus the panelled designs and heritage colour combinations more associated with traditional period properties. The construction (65mm GRP fibreglass monocoque slab) is identical across both — only the visible aesthetic differs.
Is the contemporary Palladio thermally identical to the traditional range?
Yes. Whole-door U-value of 0.85 W/m²K (solid) and 0.98 W/m²K (glazed) is identical across all Palladio designs. The 65mm GRP fibreglass monocoque slab construction and triple-glazed unit specifications are common to the entire range. Choose contemporary or traditional based on architectural fit, not thermal performance.
What sizes do contemporary Palladio doors come in?
Made-to-measure within standard residential aperture ranges. Single-leaf doors, double-leaf French-style entrance configurations, and full glass-surround layouts (door + matching sidelights either side + optional transom panel above) are all available. We confirm the right sizing and configuration at the survey stage.
Can I get a contemporary Palladio with matching sidelights?
Yes — full glass-surround configurations (door + matching sidelights + optional transom) are popular on contemporary entrances where the front door doubles as a major source of natural light into the entrance hall. Sidelights match the door slab finish and use the same triple-glazed Low-E units. Privacy-grade obscure glass is an option where line-of-sight matters.
How does Palladio compare to Solidor and other contemporary composite doors?
Palladio uses single-piece GRP fibreglass monocoque construction — a one-piece shell with no glued seams or weak points. Most other composite doors (including Solidor, Endurance, Rockdoor) use separate skins bonded to a timber or composite core, which can delaminate over decades. Palladio carries a 12-year manufacturer warranty on the door slab versus a typical 10-year warranty on competitor brands. Full comparison: /blog/palladio-vs-solidor-composite-doors.
Do contemporary Palladio doors work on period properties?
Sometimes — it depends on the property's architectural character and any conservation-area constraints. A contemporary flush Palladio can work on a period home where the architectural intent is a deliberate modernist contrast (a black flush door on a white-rendered Edwardian home is one common pattern). Where the planning expectation is period-correct timber detail, the traditional Palladio range or a different door material entirely is the better fit. We advise at the survey stage based on the property and any planning constraints.
